Porter and Pascan Expand Eastern Canada Connectivity
Canadian boutique carrier Porter Airlines has announced a new interline partnership with regional operator Pascan Aviation, a move aimed at expanding air travel access across Eastern Canada. Announced on March 26, 2025, the agreement will leverage Porter’s extensive North American network alongside Pascan’s established regional services focused on Québec and the Maritimes. With this collaboration, passengers can expect improved connectivity and increased travel options across a broad range of destinations.
Pascan Aviation, established in 1999 and based in Longueuil, Quebec, operates out of Montreal-Metropolitan Airport (YHU) and specializes in serving routes within Quebec and the Atlantic region of Canada. The airline currently maintains a fleet comprising three BAe Jetstream 32 aircraft and two Saab SF340B turboprops, operating scheduled services to cities such as Bonaventure, Gaspe, Halifax, Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec City, St John, St Hubert, and Sydney-Cape Breton, in addition to offering charter services. This niche operator has long been recognized for its role in connecting smaller communities with major regional hubs, and the new partnership will enhance this connectivity further.
According to a statement from Porter Airlines, the partnership with Pascan Aviation will facilitate year-round connections on cross-continental routes, linking cities such as Vancouver with Sydney, Nova Scotia, and Orlando with Saint John, New Brunswick. Additionally, new route possibilities include connections from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, to Bonaventure, Quebec, as well as from Gaspe, Quebec, to Timmins, Ontario. The primary connecting airports for this enhanced network will be Halifax-Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) and Québec City-Jean Lesage International Airport (YBQ), with other regional hubs also serving as secondary connection points. Currently, more than 90 connecting routes are available through Halifax and Québec City, linking eight Pascan destinations in Eastern Canada with Porter flights throughout North America.
Porter Airlines highlighted that this agreement is the first step toward expanding travel options for its passengers and those of Pascan. The carrier anticipates that the upcoming opening of a new terminal at Montréal Metropolitan Airport will further boost the partnership. Both airlines will operate flights from this convenient airport on Montréal’s South Shore, further streamlining connections and providing travelers with a seamless experience across the continent.
Edmond Eldebs, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Porter Airlines, remarked that the new partnership means improved service and more choices for passengers traveling through regional Eastern Canada. He added that the strategic move will enhance connectivity between smaller communities and major hubs, helping to bridge gaps in the current network and offering greater flexibility for leisure and business travelers alike. Yani Gagnon, co-owner at Pascan Aviation, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership along with the opening of the new terminal is truly amazing. We have been waiting for this kind of project here at Montréal Metropolitan Airport since 2004. This will open up a whole new range of opportunities that will greatly benefit our mutual clientele.”
With the combined strengths of Porter’s expansive international network and Pascan’s local expertise, the new partnership is set to transform regional travel in Eastern Canada, providing a more connected, accessible, and efficient travel experience for passengers across North America.
