Philippine Airlines Launches Direct Manila-Da Nang Flights

Philippine Airlines is set to launch direct services between Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Da Nang International Airport in Vietnam starting July 1, 2025. The new route will connect the bustling capital of the Philippines with the vibrant city of Da Nang in central Vietnam, and it is expected to boost tourism and commerce between the two regions. Philippine Airlines will operate this service three times per week, with flights scheduled to depart Manila on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The direct flight, which will take approximately two hours and 40 minutes, will be operated using Airbus A321 jetliners that can accommodate up to 199 passengers across business and economy class cabins.
This new service marks a significant expansion for PAL, as Da Nang becomes the carrier’s third destination in Vietnam. The airline already serves Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. The decision to add Da Nang comes at a time when Vietnam’s tourism sector is experiencing a strong recovery. In 2024, international visitor numbers reached 17.6 million, nearly matching pre-pandemic levels, and this resurgence in tourism has created a growing demand for direct travel options. By introducing direct flights to Da Nang, Philippine Airlines aims to further strengthen the ties between the Filipino and Vietnamese people while supporting economic growth in the region.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Captain Stanley K. Ng expressed his excitement about the new route, saying that the introduction of direct Manila-Da Nang flights is an important step in enhancing connectivity between the two nations. He emphasized that the service is designed to promote tourism and commerce by offering a convenient, efficient travel option that reduces travel time and eliminates the need for stopovers. Ng added that the new service will cater to both leisure and business travelers, providing them with a comfortable and reliable flight experience. The choice of the Airbus A321 jetliners is a testament to PAL’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and ensuring high standards of operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
The flight schedule for the new service has been carefully planned. Flight PR 585 will depart from Manila at 11:10 local time and is scheduled to arrive in Da Nang at 12:45 local time. The return flight, PR 586, will leave Da Nang at 13:35 local time and is expected to arrive back in Manila at 17:10 local time. This direct service is anticipated to significantly enhance travel options for passengers and will likely contribute to increased passenger volumes on this route. The addition of Da Nang to the PAL network not only expands the airline’s reach but also reinforces its commitment to meeting the evolving demands of a recovering tourism market.
With this new route, Philippine Airlines is positioning itself as a key player in facilitating regional connectivity and fostering economic and cultural exchanges between the Philippines and Vietnam. The direct flights to Da Nang are expected to make travel more accessible and convenient for a wide range of passengers, from tourists exploring new destinations to business travelers seeking efficient connections. As travel demand continues to rise, PAL’s new service underscores the airline’s dedication to expanding its route network and delivering superior air travel experiences that benefit both the local economies and the broader aviation industry.
