Silversea Concludes Antarctica Season, Plans New Hotel in Chile

Silversea has wrapped up its 2024/2025 Antarctica season, with Silver Endeavour, Silver Cloud, and Silver Wind completing 34 voyages from October 29 to March 31. Guests experienced everything from six-day fly cruises to 21-day Southern Ocean expeditions, each guided by up to 28 onboard experts including historians, geologists, and naturalists. Highlights included Silver Endeavour crossing the Polar Circle to Detaille Island and exploring the Inside Passage, Fish Islands, and Prospect Point. Silver Wind visited Intercurrence Island, thanks to Silversea’s 2023 scouting mission, offering guests rare views of grounded icebergs and humpback whale pods. Across the season, 2,300 guests took part in 28 polar plunges, with daily baleen whale sightings and rare encounters, including beaked whales in Wilhelmina Bay and over 50 fin whales near Elephant Island.
As Silversea prepares for its next season, it’s developing a landmark hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile—the world’s southernmost city. Scheduled to open in time for the 2025/2026 Antarctica season, the 150-room property will offer a seamless transition for fly cruise guests. Positioned along the Beagle Channel and surrounded by pristine Patagonian wilderness, the hotel will reflect local culture and materials while delivering Silversea’s signature luxury experience. This addition underscores Silversea’s commitment to innovation in polar travel and promises to elevate the guest journey from land to sea.
