Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the Norwegian Aqua on April 25, 2025, marking her inaugural season of round-trip Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral. As the newest Prima-Plus class ship in NCL’s fleet, Norwegian Aqua will operate seven-day Eastern Caribbean voyages through August 2025, calling at Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay, the line’s private Bahamian island. The deployment underscores NCL’s strategy to offer innovative cruise experiences from one of Florida’s most accessible and vibrant homeports.

David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, praised Port Canaveral’s appeal as a gateway. “We are so thrilled to have Norwegian Aqua homeport in Port Canaveral for her inaugural season of Caribbean voyages. Port Canaveral is an attractive cruise destination with a variety of attractions in the surrounding area for guests to extend their cruise vacation, and easy access by plane, train or automobile,” he said, noting that the port’s convenient connections make it an ideal launch point for year-round sun-filled itineraries.

The ship’s design marries outdoor thrills with relaxation. Norwegian Aqua introduces the Aqua Slidecoaster, the world’s first hybrid waterslide and roller coaster, propelling guests along twisting tracks over the sun deck. Glow Court, a digital sports complex with an interactive LED floor, offers multidimensional games, while the Aqua Game Zone features classic arcade titles and virtual reality experiences. Together, these venues promise fun for thrill-seekers and families alike, delivering fresh ways to play at sea.

Entertainment and dining onboard match the excitement ashore. Broadway-style shows include “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince” and “Elements: The World Expanded,” featuring cutting-edge multimedia performances. The ship boasts 17 dining venues, including NCL’s first plant-based eatery, accommodating evolving culinary tastes. With 18 bars and lounges across multiple decks, passengers can enjoy craft cocktails, fine wines and premium spirits in settings ranging from rooftop decks to intimate lounges.

Port Canaveral CEO Captain John Murray celebrated the partnership. “We have a great partnership with NCL and are excited to welcome Norwegian Aqua to our homeport fleet,” he said. Murray highlighted the port’s easy in/easy out access for guests driving to embarkation and noted that the Prima-Plus class ship aligns perfectly with Port Canaveral’s reputation for customer-focused service and seamless operations.

After completing her inaugural season in Port Canaveral, Norwegian Aqua will reposition to New York City for five- and seven-day Bermuda voyages from August through October 2025. These itineraries will spotlight classic island stops along the eastern seaboard. The ship will then sail to Miami to resume seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from October 2025 through April 2026, maintaining her popular port rotation.

Norwegian Aqua’s Port Canaveral deployment advances NCL’s goal to provide year-round Caribbean access from multiple homeports. Its mix of cutting-edge attractions, live entertainment and diverse dining options appeals to families, couples and solo travelers seeking a dynamic cruise vacation. By leveraging Port Canaveral’s modern facilities and nearby attractions, Norwegian Cruise Line aims to craft seamless experiences that begin long before embarkation and continue in memories after disembarkation.

With Norwegian Aqua now sailing from Port Canaveral, cruise enthusiasts can look forward to fresh innovations and convenient access at one of the fastest-growing cruise hubs in the country. Travelers eager to reserve inaugural sailings and future Caribbean voyages can book staterooms through Norwegian Cruise Line’s website, travel advisors or partner agencies. Early reservations ensure the best cabin selections and the opportunity to experience NCL’s latest at-sea innovations.
