Carnival Legend has arrived in San Francisco to inaugurate its very first season from the Bay Area. The 2,124-guest vessel has made the Port of San Francisco its new seasonal homeport, becoming the second Carnival Cruise Line ship to embark on the company’s west coast schedule. Port officials and senior officers led by Captain Mark Harlow welcomed Carnival Legend with a traditional plaque exchange ceremony before the ship set sail on a four-day Baja Mexico cruise calling on Ensenada. The arrival marks a significant milestone in Carnival’s strategy to expand its presence along the U.S. Pacific coast.

On May 12, Carnival Legend will depart on its first Alaska sailing of the season, joining Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa, which are already homeporting in Seattle. With this deployment, the cruise line’s roster for Alaska itineraries is now complete. Alaska cruises have become a cornerstone of Carnival’s summer schedule, offering guests opportunities to explore Glacier Bay, Juneau, Ketchikan and other iconic ports. By positioning Carnival Legend in San Francisco, the line adds a convenient embarkation point for West Coast residents eager to experience the Last Frontier.

Carnival Legend will offer a variety of voyages from San Francisco, including 10-day Alaska cruises and shorter getaways to the Mexican Riviera. Guests can opt for voyages calling on Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, enjoying warm-weather destinations and world-class onboard amenities. The ship is also scheduled for a 15-day roundtrip Carnival Journeys cruise to Hawaii, departing San Francisco on September 21. That itinerary includes stops in Hilo, Maui and Kauai, before returning via Ensenada, giving travelers a chance to combine tropical exploration with a taste of Mexican coastal culture.

“The Carnival Legend team is proud to homeport in beautiful San Francisco for the very first time,” said Captain Mark Harlow. “We’re looking forward to sailing guests on unique cruises, connecting this vibrant city with the stunning landscapes of Alaska’s most popular destinations. Our 965 team members are ready to deliver happy and memorable cruise vacations to our guests from this incredible city.” With a crew-to-guest ratio that supports attentive service and a robust lineup of entertainment, dining and shore excursion options, Carnival Legend is poised to win over both first-time cruisers and loyal Carnival guests.

In addition to expanding its deployment, Carnival has announced new collaborations with EFFY Jewelry. An EFFY store slated to open in July on Grand Bahama’s Celebration Key will offer a luxurious shopping experience featuring a curated collection exclusive to the island. Beginning July 6, the family behind EFFY Jewelry will enhance retail offerings onboard Carnival Liberty through Hematian Family Duty-Free. Guests will discover a full-scale general retail portfolio, including pre-loved designer handbags, sunglasses and accessories, destination-inspired souvenirs and Carnival-branded apparel. Travelers can also design custom souvenir pieces, create personalized essential oil blends and beauty color palettes, and participate in immersive spirits tastings.

Looking ahead to 2026, Carnival and EFFY will host an invitation-only charter cruise aboard Carnival Liberty, departing New Orleans on April 26. The exclusive voyage will feature collection unveilings, VIP masterclasses and other special events designed to showcase never-before-seen jewelry pieces. “Our connection with guests has always gone beyond jewelry,” said Bobby Hematian, president of EFFY Jewelry. “It’s about being part of the moments they’ll never forget. With this new chapter, we’re honored to offer experiences that reflect that same spirit—meaningful, memorable, and filled with joy.” This partnership underscores Carnival’s commitment to elevating the onboard experience through premium retail and entertainment offerings as it cements its seasonal homeport in San Francisco.
