BOC Aviation to Lease Nine New A320neo Family Jets to Gulf Air

BOC Aviation has finalized an agreement with Airbus to acquire nine A320neo family aircraft, which will be placed on long-term lease with Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national airline. The deal, approved by BOC Aviation’s board of directors on May 29, 2025, includes six Airbus A320neo and three A321neo aircraft, all powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines. Deliveries are scheduled between 2025 and 2027.
The agreement is part of BOC Aviation’s ongoing strategy to expand its fleet with new-generation, fuel-efficient aircraft while supporting airline partners in their growth and modernization efforts. For Gulf Air, the deal marks a significant step forward in upgrading its narrowbody fleet to meet increasing demand and improve the passenger experience.
“This transaction provides Gulf Air with technologically advanced aircraft that will be delivered over a period of three years to support its fleet growth,” said Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director of BOC Aviation. He added that the arrangement aligns with the company’s long-standing mission to offer high-quality leasing solutions backed by a robust global order book.
Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air, emphasized the importance of the fleet renewal, stating, “We are pleased to be able to enhance our fleet with these new aircraft, which will enable us to provide an even better travel experience for our passengers. This partnership with BOC Aviation underscores our commitment to modernising our operations and expanding our network.”
BOC Aviation confirmed the deal falls within its regular course of business and was executed on standard commercial terms. As of March 31, 2025, the lessor’s portfolio includes 829 aircraft and engines.
