Holland America Adds Third Ship to Northern Europe in 2027

Holland America Line will expand its northern Europe offerings in 2027 by deploying a third ship to the region, reinforcing its commitment to one of the most sought-after cruise destinations. With Zuiderdam joining Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam, travelers will have more opportunities to explore Scandinavia, Greenland, the Baltics, and the British Isles during a season running from April through December. Itineraries will range from seven to 21 days, giving guests flexibility in trip length and experience.
Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam will continue to sail from Rotterdam, while Zuiderdam will operate out of Amsterdam, enhancing embarkation options for Dutch and European guests. Additionally, select itineraries will feature departures from Reykjavik, Iceland, and Dover, England, allowing for unique access to northern ports and transatlantic adventures. Oosterdam will remain the line’s primary ship in the Mediterranean, maintaining its focus on southern Europe.
Holland America Line’s vice president of deployment and itinerary planning, Paul Grigsby, emphasized the strong appeal of the region among travelers. “Northern Europe is extremely popular with our guests, for the ports of call and stunning scenery,” he said. “As a cruise line rooted in European heritage, we’re uniquely positioned to offer one-of-a-kind explorations with an onboard experience that matches the region.”
According to Holland America’s research, both current guests and future cruisers are showing increased interest in destinations like Iceland and Greenland, as well as scenic fjord cruising. The 2027 season includes high-rated ports such as Eidfjord and Bergen in Norway, Eyjafjörður in Iceland, Liverpool in the UK, and Killybegs in Ireland, giving travelers a mix of natural beauty and cultural depth.
With the addition of Zuiderdam, Holland America aims to offer even more immersive journeys through the northern seas, backed by decades of expertise and a deep understanding of the region’s history and landscapes.
