Embraer Launches Indian Subsidiary to Boost Aerospace Ties

Embraer has expanded its presence in India with the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary headquartered in AeroCity, New Delhi, signaling a significant strategic move by the Brazilian aerospace company to deepen its engagement in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets. The announcement, made on May 30, 2025, highlights Embraer’s long-term vision to collaborate with India’s dynamic aerospace and defense sectors.

The new subsidiary will support Embraer’s operations across multiple segments, including defense, commercial aviation, business aviation, services and support, as well as urban air mobility. The company emphasized that the expansion reflects both a commercial opportunity and a broader commitment to supporting India’s ambitions in aerospace innovation and manufacturing.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer, called the move a demonstration of the company’s dedication to the Indian market. “We see significant opportunities across defense, commercial aviation, business aviation, services and support, and the emerging urban air mobility sector,” said Gomes Neto. “This expansion demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the country.”

In addition to the physical presence in New Delhi, Embraer plans to build out its team in India by recruiting talent across core corporate functions and technical areas, including procurement, supply chain management, and engineering. These efforts are aimed at developing localized capabilities and supporting long-term collaboration initiatives within the Indian aerospace ecosystem.

Currently, nearly 50 Embraer aircraft representing 11 different models are operating across India, including those in service with commercial airlines and defense agencies. The company’s growth in India also complements broader bilateral cooperation between Brazil and India, with aerospace serving as a strategic pillar.

This latest development follows Embraer’s signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2024 with Mahindra Defense Systems. The agreement aims to explore joint participation in India’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) program for the Indian Air Force, centered around the C-390 Millennium aircraft. That partnership could potentially lead to local assembly, manufacturing, and support initiatives, strengthening India’s defense manufacturing capabilities under the “Make in India” initiative.

By launching its Indian subsidiary, Embraer is positioning itself to play a larger role in shaping the future of aviation and defense in India, supporting innovation, local partnerships, and expanded access to one of Asia’s most promising aerospace markets.
