Avianca to Add Nine More A320neos from BOC Aviation

Avianca has signed a deal with Singapore-based lessor BOC Aviation to lease nine new Airbus A320neo aircraft, further expanding its modern fleet as part of a long-term renewal strategy. The agreement, announced on June 5, 2026, outlines deliveries starting in 2027 and reaffirms the airline’s focus on operating fuel-efficient, next-generation jets.
The Colombian flag carrier, which is part of the ABRA Group, already has 78 A320neo aircraft pending delivery from earlier agreements. In a major 2022 deal, Avianca committed to purchase 88 A320neos from Airbus with options for 50 more, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2031. The additional nine aircraft under the new lease agreement strengthen that commitment and support the airline’s regional growth plans.
Francisco Raddatz, Chief Procurement Officer for ABRA Group, said the transaction highlights Avianca’s strong partnership with BOC Aviation and aligns with the group’s broader objective to operate one of the youngest and most efficient fleets in Latin America.
BOC Aviation, which placed a firm order for 70 A320neo family aircraft with Airbus in March 2025, continues to grow its portfolio of fuel-efficient aircraft. CEO Steven Townend emphasized the strategic value of the deal, stating it enhances the lessor’s presence in Latin America while positioning both companies for sustained growth in high-demand markets.
The lessor also recently signed a separate agreement to supply nine A320neo aircraft to Gulf Air, underlining BOC Aviation’s continued confidence in the A320neo’s market appeal and operational performance.
