United Airlines has partnered with Spotify to bring the streaming platform’s curated playlists, audiobooks, and video podcasts directly to passengers’ seatback screens, beginning this week. This marks the first time Spotify has offered its video and audiobook content onboard an aircraft, the airline confirmed in a press release.

Passengers flying with United will now be able to enjoy popular music, engaging podcasts, and select audiobooks as part of their inflight entertainment experience. Starting next year, travelers will also be able to log into their personal Spotify accounts directly through the seatback screens to access their own playlists and preferences.

“Spotify has a huge audience and people love their content. And now our customers can enjoy it all in a simple and easy way, at 35,000 feet,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of MileagePlus. “We’re giving millions of customers an entirely new way to explore premium content from top artists, authors, and podcasters.”

Spotify echoed the excitement, stating, “The collaboration brings the Spotify experience fans know and love to the skies, so passengers can stream their favorite playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks on United flights.”

This inflight upgrade follows record-high customer satisfaction scores for United’s inflight entertainment, as highlighted in the airline’s first-quarter earnings report. The partnership is part of United’s broader push to modernize the passenger experience with cutting-edge digital entertainment options at cruising altitude.
