AviLease, the global aircraft lessor based in Saudi Arabia, has signed a major order for up to 77 Airbus aircraft at the 2025 Paris Air Show. The order includes 22 A350F freighters and 55 A320neo Family aircraft, marking AviLease’s first direct purchase from Airbus. The deal was announced on June 16, 2025, during a press conference with AviLease CEO Edward O’Byrne and Airbus EVP Sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry.

Initially, AviLease committed to 10 A350F freighters and 30 A320neo aircraft, with options to expand the order to the full 22 A350Fs and 55 A320neos. This agreement is the first major order revealed at this year’s Paris Air Show in Le Bourget.

Edward O’Byrne emphasized the thorough evaluation process behind selecting Airbus, stating that the order supports AviLease’s four-pronged investment strategy, balancing freighter and passenger aircraft growth. Since its founding only a few years ago, AviLease has rapidly grown its fleet to nearly 200 aircraft through sale-leasebacks, portfolio acquisitions, and direct orders.

The Airbus A350F features the industry’s largest main deck cargo door and a fuselage optimized for standard pallets and containers. Its advanced materials reduce takeoff weight by 46 tons compared to competing models. The A350F is also the only freighter that fully complies with ICAO’s 2027 CO₂ emissions standards.

The A320neo Family offers 20% fuel savings with new-generation engines, Sharklets, and cabin efficiency enhancements. Deliveries of AviLease’s new Airbus fleet are scheduled to begin between 2030 and 2033.
