Airways Aviation Orders 16 Elixir Trainers
Airways Aviation, a global leader in pilot training, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for the purchase of 16 fourth-generation training aircraft from Elixir Aircraft, marking the company’s first order announced at the Paris Air Show. The agreement was finalized on June 19, 2025, the final trade day of the event before it opens to the public.
The deal strengthens Elixir Aircraft’s momentum at this year’s show, following a June 13 order by the École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) for 30 aircraft. The growing interest in Elixir’s advanced light aircraft highlights the aviation industry’s increasing focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability in pilot training.
Founded in France, Elixir Aircraft is known for its composite-built, lightweight aircraft, designed to meet the needs of modern flight schools by offering low operating costs, reduced fuel consumption, and enhanced safety features. The manufacturer’s fourth-generation trainer has garnered attention for its innovative single-piece wing and fuselage design, which minimizes mechanical complexity and improves durability.
Arthur Léopold-Léger, CEO and co-founder of Elixir Aircraft, celebrated the partnership: “The addition of the 4th generation trainer will enable the school to deliver high-quality training while significantly optimizing operational costs. We see this as the beginning of a strong and lasting partnership between our two organizations.”
In its official statement, Airways Aviation emphasized the importance of fleet modernization and operational flexibility. “This new agreement not only reaffirms our confidence in Elixir Aircraft’s next-generation aircraft but also reinforces our ongoing commitment to equipping our students with the best training tools available anywhere in the world,” said Romy Hawatt, CEO of Airways Aviation.
Hawatt noted that the new aircraft will enhance safety and versatility within the training fleet while contributing to the company’s broader sustainability objectives. Elixir’s aircraft are designed to operate with lower fuel consumption, making them environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional trainer aircraft.
Though no delivery dates have been publicly confirmed, Airways Aviation plans to deploy the new aircraft across its international network of pilot training academies, which includes locations in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. The addition of Elixir aircraft is expected to elevate the school’s training standards and provide students with experience in flying aircraft that represent the future of general aviation.
With the order, Elixir Aircraft continues to build on its reputation as a next-generation solution for pilot training, offering a safe, efficient, and cost-effective platform for aviation schools worldwide.
