All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced a new business class seat, ‘THE Room FX’, designed exclusively for its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The seat was officially revealed at the Paris Air Show on June 17, 2025, marking a significant upgrade to ANA’s premium cabin experience.

‘THE Room FX’, which stands for ‘Future Experience’, builds upon the airline’s highly acclaimed ‘THE Room’ product first launched on the Boeing 777-300ER fleet in 2019. Developed in partnership with Safran Seats and UK-based design firm Acumen, the new seat is engineered for both luxury and efficiency.

Key improvements include a lighter seat shell and thinner privacy doors, reducing cabin weight without compromising comfort or personal space. The layout features alternating front and rear-facing seats, enhancing the perception of space within the aircraft’s wide-body cabin.

Unlike traditional recliners, the innovative seat design allows for a sofa-style seating configuration and can convert into a lie-flat bed using a movable seat pan. The new design also incorporates a larger in-flight entertainment screen for a more immersive onboard experience.

ANA hopes the ‘THE Room FX’ product will elevate its premium offering on long-haul routes operated by the 787-9. The launch aligns with the airline’s broader fleet modernization strategy, which also includes a recent order for 27 Airbus A321neo aircraft, including three A321XLRs.

The seat debuted as a full-scale model at the Paris Air Show, where it drew significant attention from industry insiders. ANA plans to begin cabin retrofits with ‘THE Room FX’ in the near future.
