Scenic Group Highlights Sustainability Gains in 2024 Report

Scenic Group has published its 2024 Impact Report, showcasing notable advancements in sustainability, equity, and community engagement across its luxury yacht, river cruise, and land journey operations. The report, anchored in the company’s “Cherish the Planet” initiative, aligns with the United Nations’ 12 Sustainable Development Goals and reflects Scenic’s growing leadership in responsible travel.
The group reported a 27 percent reduction in plastic waste intensity and a 13 percent decrease in wastewater intensity across its ocean operations. Onboard ocean vessels, Scenic produced over 21 million gallons of freshwater, reducing dependency on port supplies and returning 92 percent of onboard water safely to the environment. On its river cruises, water consumption dropped by 18 percent compared to the previous year.
Beyond environmental stewardship, the report highlights Scenic’s strengthened community impact. The Clean Water Program was expanded to a kindergarten in Vietnam’s Tra Bong District, providing safe drinking water to over 200 students and staff. The company also deepened its partnerships in Egypt, supporting cultural heritage efforts and local artisan communities.
Scenic made strides in advancing workplace equity, achieving 51 percent female representation in management and significantly narrowing its gender pay gap. These efforts reflect a broader commitment to inclusion and leadership diversity across the organization.
“This year, we focused on what the data reveals: where we’re improving efficiency and how our commitment to responsible practices is making a difference for guests and the destinations we serve,” said Phil Jordan, Director of Sustainability at Scenic Group. He emphasized the company’s continued focus on long-term impact through innovation, partnerships, and purpose-driven guest experiences.
