Hospitality ID to Streamline Property Data and Boost Integration Efficiency

A new industry initiative, Hospitality ID, is aiming to revolutionize the way hotel property data is managed and shared across the global hospitality ecosystem. Spearheaded by hospitality consultant and Phocuswright senior analyst Robert Cole, the non-profit project will assign a unique identifier to every hospitality organization, creating a universal registry to eliminate inconsistent, duplicate, or outdated data.
Supported by Booking Holdings and industry group HFTP, the initiative promises to drastically reduce engineering time—by up to 80% for integrations, according to Booking Holdings estimates. The system will allow properties and their partners to recognize and reference hotels through a secure, permission-based framework, ensuring owners maintain control over who can access and use their data.
Currently, the industry struggles with fragmented data standards, causing integration issues, booking errors, and revenue loss. Hospitality ID is designed to address these inefficiencies by offering a reliable, barcode-like ID for each property, streamlining communication across hotels, booking platforms, tech suppliers, and distribution systems.
The platform will enhance data accuracy, accelerate system syncing, and improve the guest booking experience by reducing delays and confusion caused by mismatched property records. Hotels are also expected to benefit from faster technology deployments and fewer manual data reconciliations.
Set to launch in beta by Q3 2026 and fully roll out in Q4, the initiative is in advanced talks with key industry players, including a global distribution system, a property management platform, and a major hotel group, to serve as co-founders and accelerate adoption across sectors.
