Crystal Cruises Funds Two New Luxury Ships

Crystal Cruises has secured financing for the construction of two new ultra-luxury cruise ships, strengthening its position in the high-end travel market. The financing package is backed by SACE, Italy’s export credit agency, and supported by a consortium of international financial institutions and banking partners. These include Citibank, N.A. London Branch; Banco Santander, S.A.; CaixaBank, S.A., UK Branch; Cassa Depositi e Prestiti S.p.A.; Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank; Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A.; and BPER Banca S.p.A.
The deal provides critical funding for Crystal’s next generation of cruise ships, each designed to carry up to 650 guests. With a gross tonnage of 61,800 tons, these new vessels aim to deliver a refined and spacious onboard experience, continuing the brand’s legacy of personalized service and elegant design. Both ships will be built by renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, known for its work with premium cruise brands around the world.
The first of the two new ships is scheduled for delivery in May 2028, while the second will follow in 2030. A third vessel, not included in the current financing arrangement, is also in the pipeline with an expected delivery date in 2032.
Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, executive chairman of A&K Travel Group, which owns Crystal Cruises, said the financing underscores the company’s credibility and long-term vision in the ultra-luxury sector. He emphasized that the backing from leading global banks affirms Crystal’s commitment to innovation, growth, and excellence in cruising.
Crystal Cruises is continuing its strategic expansion following its relaunch under A&K Travel Group, with the new builds set to feature advanced technology, sustainable design elements, and enhanced guest amenities tailored to the preferences of high-end travelers. The investment in these new vessels is expected to strengthen Crystal’s competitive position and contribute to the growing demand for luxury cruising experiences worldwide.
