Holland America Line is set to celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday in 2026 with a special sailing designed to bring guests closer to the country’s historic roots. The seven-day “America’s 250th Celebration: Stars & Stripes Voyage” will depart on July 4, 2026, aboard the Zuiderdam, sailing roundtrip from Boston.

The cruise kicks off with a prime view of Boston’s Fourth of July fireworks from the harbor, setting the tone for a journey steeped in American heritage. The itinerary features an overnight stay in New York City, a visit to Norfolk, Virginia, and a call at Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. Each stop has been selected for its cultural and historical significance, giving guests the chance to explore landmarks central to the nation’s founding.

While docked in Norfolk, travelers will have access to excursions that highlight Virginia’s colonial past. One tour explores Colonial Williamsburg and the Governor’s Palace, offering insight into daily life in the 18th century. Another excursion visits the Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, located within the Colonial National Historic Park.

In New York City, guests will witness the finale of the “Sail4th 250” tall ships parade, taking place from July 3 to July 8, 2026. Shore excursions include a visit to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or a sightseeing tour of the city by both land and sea.

Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, said the voyage is designed to be a tribute to America’s journey over the past 250 years. She emphasized that the cruise offers not just celebration but meaningful connections to the sites that helped shape the nation’s story.

This special sailing aims to provide a patriotic and immersive experience for travelers, combining holiday festivities with the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of American history.
