Ritz-Carlton’s Luminara Begins Inaugural Mediterranean Cruise

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s newest luxury yacht, Luminara, has officially launched, embarking on its maiden voyage from Monte Carlo to Rome on July 3. The seven-night journey includes stops in Cannes, Livorno, and Portofino, marking the vessel’s debut into the Mediterranean cruise scene.

Joining sister ships Evrima and Ilma, Luminara becomes the third ship in the growing Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection fleet. The launch reflects the brand’s strategic expansion into the luxury yachting space and its continued dedication to blending world-class hospitality with ultra-luxury cruising.

Ernesto Fara, president of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, highlighted the ship’s debut as a milestone moment for the brand. “Welcoming Luminara to our fleet reflects our continued focus on thoughtful expansion and innovation,” said Fara. “This launch brings together years of collaboration and intentional design to deliver a yacht that sets a new benchmark for the industry.”

The 794-foot Luminara offers lavish accommodations, elevated service, and refined design. During its christening ceremony, British actress Simone Ashley officially named the vessel, serving as the ship’s godmother in a maritime tradition that marks a new ship’s safe and prosperous journeys.

The ceremony was attended by several industry leaders, including Jim Murren, executive chairman and CEO of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection; Tina Edmundson, president of luxury at Marriott International; Captain Tom Roth; and Muna Azab, the ship’s general manager.

Tina Edmundson noted the significance of Luminara as an extension of the brand’s identity. “It embodies the emotional richness of travel—the places that stay with you, the cultures that shape you, and the sense of belonging that exceptional hospitality creates,” she said.

With its sleek design, intimate atmosphere, and focus on personalized service, Luminara sets a new standard in the world of ultra-luxury cruising, continuing The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s vision of redefining sea travel through its unique hospitality approach.
