Embraer has announced a strategic partnership with satellite communications provider Viasat to equip Aeromexico’s Embraer E190 fleet with in-flight internet connectivity, providing free Wi-Fi for passengers on short-haul routes. The collaboration was confirmed in a joint statement released on July 11, 2025.

The high-speed satellite connectivity will operate via Viasat’s global Ka-band network, allowing Aeromexico passengers to enjoy seamless internet access during flights. Passengers will be able to stream movies and live sports, browse the web, send emails, and stay active on social media throughout their journey.

Andres Castañeda, Chief Digital and Customer Experience Officer and Executive Vice President at Aeromexico, emphasized the milestone by stating the airline will become the first and only carrier in Latin America to provide ad-supported free messaging across its entire network. “This means our passengers can stay connected wherever they fly, with the option to purchase internet packages,” he said.

Carlos Naufel, President and CEO of Embraer Services & Support, highlighted the initiative as part of Embraer’s continuous effort to enhance the passenger experience across its aircraft. “Offering connectivity services on Aeromexico’s E-Jets fleet is an important step to provide more comfort to the airline’s customers,” he said.

Currently, six of Aeromexico’s E190 aircraft have already been outfitted with Viasat’s advanced Wi-Fi system. The installation process for the remaining 28 jets is underway, with the full fleet of 34 E190s expected to be Wi-Fi enabled by 2027.

This development positions Aeromexico as a leader in digital passenger experience in the region, as it embraces satellite-based in-flight entertainment and connectivity across its regional operations.
