Carnival Previews Celebration Key for Bahamians Before July Launch

Carnival Cruise Line welcomed government officials, community leaders, and residents of Grand Bahama for a special preview of Celebration Key, its new private destination set to open on July 19. The event gave locals a first look at what will soon be a major tourism hub in the Bahamas.
Coinciding with the preview, Carnival Vista departed from Port Canaveral on a voyage that will bring the first cruise guests to Celebration Key. Those unable to attend the launch in person can watch the opening ceremony live on Carnival Cruise Line’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. ET on July 19.
Once operational, Celebration Key is expected to host 20 Carnival ships from 10 U.S. homeports, with projections of welcoming two million guests during its first year.
“Celebration Key is not only a beautiful destination for our guests, but also a testament to the strong partnership between Carnival and the people of Grand Bahama,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “It’s the first major development on the island in over two decades, and we’re proud to lead its creation.”
During the preview, guests toured Celebration Key’s five themed portals, including the adults-only Pearl Cove Beach Club and the family-focused Starfish Lagoon. They also enjoyed views of the expansive freshwater lagoons and the signature Suncastle with its racing waterslides.
Duffy emphasized the role of local workers, noting that hundreds of Bahamians helped build Celebration Key, which will also generate long-term employment and economic benefits for the island.
