HX Expeditions is set to enhance its Antarctica cruise experience with a significant expansion of its kayaking and camping programs for the upcoming 2025–2026 season. Starting in October, the adventure cruise line will increase kayaking capacity by 188 percent and double the number of camping spots, allowing up to 60 guests to sleep on the icy continent.

“We’re reimagining how guests experience Antarctica,” said Karin Strand, vice president of expedition development. “These once-in-a-lifetime adventures are now more accessible, with a focus on small, responsible group experiences.” New additions include inflatable solo kayaks designed in partnership with NRS in the U.S. and Escape Watersports in the U.K. These will be offered alongside traditional hard-shell sea kayaks, all led by expert guides.

Camping options have also expanded with new lightweight, low-impact bivvy bags sourced from Scandinavia and tested by HX’s polar experts. Two-person tents are also available for those seeking added comfort in extreme conditions.

Solo travelers are welcome to join without a partner, a first for the company. HX is also removing its previous lottery-based selection system. Guests will now book on a first-come, first-served basis, with a pre-booking system in development for future seasons.

Additional Antarctica activities include snowshoeing, polar plunges, and extended hikes, further diversifying the expedition experience.

HX Expeditions emphasizes sustainable travel, operating within IAATO guidelines to minimize environmental impact. Every activity is carefully designed to respect wildlife, preserve the pristine ecosystem, and offer travelers a deeper connection to one of the planet’s last untouched frontiers.
