Skytrans Rebrands to SmartLynx Australia Under Avia Group

Skytrans has officially rebranded as SmartLynx Australia to align with its sister airlines—SmartLynx Airlines in Europe and Thai SmartLynx—under the Avia Solutions Group. The move marks a strategic integration into the group’s global network and expands its reach in the Asia-Pacific ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) market.
While the airline will maintain its existing scheduled passenger services in northern Queensland and the Torres Strait region from its base in Cairns, the rebrand reflects a broader ambition. SmartLynx Australia is expected to grow its ACMI and charter operations across Asia-Pacific, leveraging Avia’s global scale and seasonal demand balancing strategy.
Avia Solutions Group acquired Skytrans in March 2024. The rebrand enhances brand consistency and opens doors for the Australian operator to offer ACMI services with both turboprop and narrowbody jet aircraft.
“The new brand marks a new stage for the business—one that bridges the quality transportation services Skytrans was known for locally and the new line of business—ACMI—that Avia Solutions Group has perfected,” said Gytis Gumuliauskas, Managing Director and CEO of SmartLynx Australia.
SmartLynx Australia now operates under one of 12 Air Operator Certificates (AOC) held by the Avia Solutions Group. As of July 2025, the airline has a fleet of 12 aircraft, including Airbus A319s and multiple De Havilland Canada DHC-8 variants, positioning it well for both regional routes and growing ACMI demand.
