United Airlines Adds Free Apple TV+ Across All Flights

United Airlines is raising the bar for in-flight entertainment, becoming the first airline to offer free Apple TV+ content across its entire fleet. Passengers can now watch popular Apple Originals—including Ted Lasso, Severance, Shrinking, Slow Horses, and Silo—on more than 130,000 seatback screens and through the United mobile app, with more titles to be added monthly.
The partnership with Apple brings a premium streaming experience to the skies, with United set to roll out over 300,000 screens by the end of 2025 as part of its “United Next” cabin upgrade program. New 27-inch, 4K OLED Bluetooth-enabled seatback displays will be installed across the fleet, giving travelers crystal-clear viewing at 35,000 feet.
Passengers can begin watching on one flight and resume where they left off on their next trip, creating a seamless multi-flight entertainment experience. While the full Apple TV+ catalog won’t be available, United says enough complete seasons and specials will be offered to keep passengers engaged on flights of any length.
The airline’s investment in high-quality seatback systems comes at a time when many carriers have removed them in favor of personal device streaming. United’s strategy aims to stand out by pairing top-tier hardware with exclusive content partnerships.
This collaboration builds on United’s ongoing work with Apple, which already includes real-time flight tracking via iPhone and Apple Watch Live Activities and baggage tracking using Apple’s AirTag technology. In the coming months, United plans to expand its Apple TV+ library to include more dramas, comedies, documentaries, and feature films—keeping passengers entertained from takeoff to landing.
