Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed details of its $150 million expansion of Great Stirrup Cay, the line’s private island in the Bahamas, featuring the debut of the six-acre Great Tides Waterpark in summer 2026.

The new attraction will feature 19 waterslides, cliff jumps, a 9,000-square-foot kids’ splash zone, two swim-up bars, and a nearly 800-foot dynamic river with illuminated grotto tunnels. Highlights include the 170-foot Tidal Tower with eight thrilling slides, a family raft slide, and racer slides. Cliffside Cove will offer cliff jumps and a cave-style Grotto Bar, while younger guests can enjoy Splash Harbor, complete with fountains, water features, and shaded seating for parents.

Additional amenities include a heated pool, a mini aquatic racecourse with jet karts, new cabanas and villas, Horizon Park with lawn games and pickleball, Hammock Bay with more than 50 hammocks, and an adults-only Vibe Shore Club offering private lounges and day beds. A new pier will also be constructed, allowing multiple ships to dock simultaneously and increasing guest capacity.

To celebrate the expansion, Norwegian is hosting “Escape to the Great Life” activations in New York City and Miami, alongside a nationwide sweepstakes that will award 250 free cruises, including visits to Great Stirrup Cay.

“Great Stirrup Cay has always been a favorite, and with this expansion, we’re reinventing what guests can experience,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “From thrilling waterslides to relaxing cabanas, we’re creating the ultimate private island experience.”
