Joby Aviation to Offer Bookings Through Uber App

Joby Aviation has partnered with Uber to make its flights bookable directly through the Uber app starting in 2026, a move designed to accelerate the rollout of its planned flying taxi services. The collaboration will initially focus on helicopter routes to major airports and popular destinations, giving passengers a seamless booking experience on a platform they already use.

The deal marks a key step in Joby’s strategy to build out its urban air mobility network and familiarize travelers with its brand ahead of the launch of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. By leveraging Uber’s large user base, Joby aims to simplify access to short-haul flights, integrating ride-hailing and air travel into a single interface.

Industry analysts note the partnership could significantly boost consumer adoption of advanced air mobility by reducing the friction of booking and combining ground and air transport under one umbrella. It also echoes Uber’s earlier experiments with helicopter and eVTOL bookings through its now-divested Uber Elevate program, which Joby acquired in 2021.

Joby plans to begin operations with conventional helicopters on key airport transfer routes before transitioning to its quieter, all-electric aircraft once they are certified. This phased approach allows the company to test infrastructure, pricing and customer experience while scaling up for eVTOL services.

If successful, the integration of Joby flights into the Uber app could serve as a model for how on-demand air mobility will be marketed and accessed in major cities worldwide.
