Norwegian Enhances Great Stirrup Cay With $150M Expansion

Norwegian Cruise Line is investing $150 million to transform Great Stirrup Cay, its private Bahamian island, into an even more dynamic destination for cruisers. The project, set to debut in phases through 2026, introduces a host of attractions designed to appeal to families, couples, and adventure seekers alike.
At the center of the expansion is the six-acre Great Tides Waterpark, featuring 19 waterslides, cliff jumps, a splash zone, swim-up bars, and a nearly 800-foot dynamic river with grotto tunnels. Adding to the excitement is a new jet karts water track, offering guests a high-adrenaline ocean experience.
The project also includes Horizon Park, where guests can play pickleball and mini-golf, and Hammock Bay, a laid-back relaxation area. For adults seeking exclusivity, the new Vibe Shore Club will provide private cabanas, hanging daybeds, and a dedicated bar. A new pier will boost capacity, allowing multiple ships to dock at once—part of Norwegian’s plan to welcome one million visitors in 2026 aboard 15 ships, including the new Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
For travel advisors, the enhancements open fresh opportunities to promote Norwegian itineraries. With departures from 11 U.S. homeports, including Miami, New York, and Philadelphia, advisors can pitch Great Stirrup Cay as both an accessible and exciting option for first-time cruisers and repeat guests.
By emphasizing the island’s wide-ranging attractions—from family-friendly adventures to adults-only escapes—agents can position Great Stirrup Cay as a signature highlight of Norwegian voyages and a strong selling point for future bookings.
