Celebrity Xcel Completes Sea Trials Before November Debut

Celebrity Cruises has confirmed that its newest ship, Celebrity Xcel, has successfully completed sea trials ahead of its highly anticipated debut this November.
The vessel sailed for the first time on September 13, with Captain Kyriakos “Kirk” Matragkas leading the crew. During the trials, Celebrity Xcel underwent a comprehensive series of tests to demonstrate its maneuverability, safety, and operational capabilities in open waters near the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where it has been under construction.
The successful sea trials mark a major milestone for the ship, which will soon welcome guests as the fifth addition to the brand’s acclaimed Edge Series. Celebrity Xcel will introduce seven new spaces on board, adding to the innovative design and luxury features that have become a hallmark of the series.
Following its delivery, Celebrity Xcel will launch its inaugural season from Fort Lauderdale in November, offering alternating seven-night Caribbean itineraries. Routes will include stops in the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands, as well as Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
In summer 2026, the ship will reposition to Europe for its first season in the Mediterranean, giving travelers the chance to experience the newest vessel in destinations across the region.
With its sea trials completed, Celebrity Xcel is on track to debut as one of the most advanced and luxurious cruise ships at sea, blending innovative design with the elevated service for which Celebrity Cruises is known.
