Delta Air Lines is deepening its commitment to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) as part of a new lease agreement that will give the carrier access to 15 gates—a significant expansion that positions Delta for continued growth in one of the fastest-growing U.S. markets. The move aligns with the airport’s long-term development plans to accommodate rising passenger traffic and increased airline activity.

As part of the expansion, Delta has announced new nonstop service to nine North American destinations in 2025, including Miami, Denver, and Kansas City, Missouri. The additions reflect strong customer demand for more connectivity from Austin, which has become a key hub for business, technology, and leisure travel.

“Delta aims to secure additional gate capacity to expand service, meet customer demand, and offer Austinites more destinations and an elevated travel experience,” a Delta spokesperson said. The airline’s growth strategy in Austin includes not only expanding its network but also enhancing passenger amenities through improved lounges, check-in facilities, and streamlined boarding processes.

The new lease agreement solidifies Delta’s long-term presence at Austin-Bergstrom, where the carrier has steadily increased its footprint over the past several years. The airline currently ranks among the airport’s top carriers by passenger volume, competing directly with Southwest Airlines and American Airlines for market share in the Texas capital.

Austin-Bergstrom International is undergoing a major multi-year expansion to meet projected passenger growth that could exceed 30 million annual travelers within the next decade. Delta’s increased investment underscores its confidence in Austin’s growth trajectory and its intention to establish the city as a strategic connecting point for both domestic and international routes.

With new destinations, additional gates, and an emphasis on premium service, Delta’s expansion at Austin-Bergstrom strengthens its position in one of the most dynamic air travel markets in the U.S.
