RIU Hotels & Resorts Debuts First Canadian Property in Toronto

RIU Hotels & Resorts has officially entered the Canadian market with the grand opening of RIU Plaza Toronto, marking a major milestone in the brand’s global expansion. The newly constructed four-star hotel introduces RIU’s signature urban sophistication and warm hospitality to one of North America’s most dynamic cities.
Located at 30 Widmer Street in Toronto’s bustling Entertainment District, the RIU Plaza Toronto provides an ideal setting for both business and leisure travelers. Guests are just steps away from the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Princess of Wales Theatre, Rogers Centre Stadium, David Pecaut Square, and the CN Tower, while convenient transit connections make exploring Toronto effortless.
Occupying 23 floors within one of two newly built 49-story twin towers, the hotel’s striking design blends classic and contemporary elements. A brick-clad lower façade pays homage to Toronto’s historic architecture, while sleek glass panels rise above, creating a modern addition to the city’s skyline.
Inside, guests are greeted by a bright, contemporary lobby with elegant seating and a stylish lobby bar offering light bites and refreshments throughout the day. The second floor features a modern restaurant serving RIU Plaza’s signature full buffet breakfast, included with every stay. The hotel’s design balances warmth and sophistication through beige tones, matte chrome finishes, and refined furnishings.
The RIU Plaza Toronto offers 352 guest rooms, a 24-hour fitness center, and a conference room accommodating up to 40 attendees, making it equally suited for corporate meetings and urban getaways.
This opening holds special significance for RIU, as Canadian travelers have long been among the brand’s most loyal guests at its beach resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America. Now, for the first time, Canadians can enjoy the RIU experience without crossing a border.
The RIU Plaza Toronto becomes the 12th property in the company’s growing urban portfolio, joining flagship locations in Madrid, Dublin, Berlin, London, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Panama, and Guadalajara.
With this landmark debut, RIU Hotels & Resorts continues to strengthen its international presence, bringing its signature blend of European elegance and modern comfort to Toronto’s skyline—and setting a new benchmark for contemporary hospitality in Canada.
