Oceania Cruises Revives Jacques French Restaurant at Sea

Oceania Cruises is celebrating the return of its signature French restaurant, Jacques, aboard its newest ships, Oceania Allura and Oceania Vista. The beloved dining venue, created by world-renowned chef Jacques Pépin, marks a new era of culinary excellence for the line known as “The Finest Cuisine at Sea.”
To commemorate the occasion, Oceania Cruises hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Boston on October 6, attended by Pépin himself, along with his daughter Claudine Pépin, son-in-law Rollie Wesen, and granddaughter Shorey Wesen. They were joined by chef Eric Barale, Oceania Cruises’ executive culinary director and Maître Cuisinier de France.
“We first debuted Jacques 14 years ago aboard Oceania Marina, and later on Oceania Riviera, and I am delighted to see this wonderful evolution of our much-loved culinary venue aboard Oceania Allura and Oceania Vista,” said Pépin. “Oceania Cruises has built a legacy of culinary excellence, integrity, and creativity, culminating in this exciting new chapter of Jacques that we are celebrating today.”
The restaurant’s menu has been thoughtfully reimagined to balance beloved classics with new creations that showcase Pépin’s French heritage. Returning favorites include duck à l’orange with Grand Marnier sauce, veal medallions with morel mushroom sauce, and timeless desserts such as crêpes suzette and profiteroles.
New additions highlight elevated presentation and tableside artistry. Guests can savor deviled eggs topped with smoked trout rillette and sturgeon caviar, or enjoy dishes prepared tableside, including traditional beef tartare and a sea bass en croûte for two—baked to perfection in a golden pastry crust.
With its return, Jacques reinforces Oceania Cruises’ dedication to fine dining and its partnership with Pépin, who has guided the brand’s culinary identity since its inception. The restaurant continues to embody the spirit of French gastronomy—where classic technique, rich flavors, and elegant presentation come together to create an unforgettable dining experience at sea.
As Oceania Allura prepares for her 2025 debut, the revival of Jacques ensures that guests can once again indulge in one of the most acclaimed and authentic French dining experiences on the oceans.
