Buraq Air Becomes New Airbus Customer with Order for 10 A320neo Jets

Libya’s first private airline, Buraq Air, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the purchase of 10 A320neo Family aircraft, marking a major milestone in its modernization strategy and making Buraq Air a new Airbus customer. The agreement was signed on November 19 at the Dubai Airshow by Fouzi Almiqalh, General Assembly President of Buraq Air, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft.
“This agreement represents a significant step forward for Buraq Air as we continue to modernize our fleet and expand to more destinations,” said Fouzi Almiqalh. “The A320neo’s efficiency and flexibility will strengthen our core network while providing a shared platform for Medsky Airways, our strategic partner, to enhance passenger offerings across both carriers.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry welcomed Buraq Air to the Airbus family, noting: “This agreement reinforces the A320neo as the aircraft of choice for airlines pursuing fleet renewal. We are committed to supporting Buraq Air’s long-term growth and expansion strategy.”
The A320neo Family is the world’s best-selling single-aisle jet, with more than 19,000 total orders to date. The aircraft delivers up to 20 percent fuel savings and CO₂ reductions compared to previous-generation models, while offering one of the widest cabins in its class. The A321neo, the largest variant in the family, provides exceptional range and performance for medium- and long-haul routes.
All Airbus aircraft are certified to operate with up to 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with the manufacturer targeting 100 percent SAF capability by 2030. As of October 2025, the A320neo Family had secured over 11,300 orders from 150 customers worldwide, underscoring its role as a cornerstone of global fleet modernization.
