Thai Airways Selects NSG Skywaves for 787 IFC Line-Fit

Thai Airways will become the first airline to line-fit Boeing 787 Dreamliners with the Skywaves inflight connectivity system from Neo Space Group (NSG). All 34 newly ordered Dreamliners will be delivered with the multi-orbit system installed at the factory, providing onboard broadband speeds of up to a claimed 200 Mbps.
NSG Skywaves leverages SES’s Open Orbits network, combining Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites for low-latency, high-speed connectivity with Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellites for seamless global coverage. The solution uses the ThinKom Ka2517 antenna, a proven multi-orbit technology already deployed on more than 1,700 aircraft worldwide.
“This milestone demonstrates the confidence of a leading international carrier and highlights NSG’s ability to deliver advanced, line-fit connectivity on one of the world’s most significant aircraft platforms,” said Tarek El Mitwalli, EVP business aviation at NSG. “With over 1,000 Dreamliners in service globally, this achievement marks a major step in NSG’s international growth.”
The agreement strengthens the airline’s existing partnership with NSG, which began in 2024 with retrofit installations on Thai Airways’ Boeing 777 fleet. It also extends to the carrier’s Airbus A321neo aircraft through the HBCplus programme with Safran Passenger Innovations. The first A321neo equipped with Skywaves is expected to enter service in early 2026, further expanding Thai Airways’ next-generation connectivity strategy across its fleet.
