Delta and United Acquire Minority Stakes in Republic Airways

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have taken minority ownership positions in Republic Airways Holdings as part of the regional carrier’s merger with Mesa Air Group. The investments formalise the two major US airlines’ strategic ties with one of the country’s largest regional operators.
According to separate filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission dated December 3 and December 5, United Airlines now holds more than 7.7 million shares in Republic Airways, representing an 18.2% ownership stake. Delta Air Lines, meanwhile, owns just under 6.8 million shares, equivalent to a 14.4% stake.
The minority investments reflect the long-standing operational relationships between Republic and its mainline partners and underscore the strategic importance of regional capacity within the US airline network as consolidation continues across the sector.
