Embraer, Adani to Build E175 Assembly Line in India
Embraer and Adani Defence & Aerospace have formalized plans to establish a final assembly line for the E175 regional jet in India, marking a significant step forward in their expanding industrial partnership.
On February 21, 2026, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi to set up a final assembly line for the E175. The agreement was signed in the presence of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, underscoring the strategic importance of the project for both countries.
The latest announcement builds on a January 2026 declaration that Embraer and Adani would collaborate on regional aircraft manufacturing. The new MoU confirms that the initiative will focus specifically on localized production of the E175 in India, including assembly operations and supporting infrastructure.
The E175, which can seat up to 88 passengers in a single-class configuration, is widely viewed as well suited to India’s growing regional aviation market. Embraer estimates that India will require approximately 500 aircraft in the 80- to 146-seat segment over the next 20 years to support its regional connectivity objectives and rising domestic air travel demand.
Regional aviation is considered central to India’s broader economic development strategy, particularly in improving links between major metropolitan hubs and smaller cities. Expanding air connectivity is seen as a way to bridge the urban-rural divide and stimulate growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The Indian government has actively promoted regional air travel through the UDAN program, which provides incentives to airlines to operate underserved routes. The initiative includes subsidies to make air travel more affordable, as well as investment in upgrading and developing airports across the country.
Under the new partnership, Embraer and Adani Group will work together to develop the facilities, workforce and supply chain required to support serial production of the E175 in India. The collaboration is also expected to extend beyond assembly to include aftermarket services, maintenance support and pilot training programs.
If successfully implemented, the final assembly line would strengthen India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem while giving Embraer a deeper industrial footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
