Beaches Resorts Expands Autism-Friendly Travel Programs

Beaches Resorts is expanding its autism-friendly offerings while introducing a new incentive for travel advisors, aligning with April’s Autism Acceptance Month. The initiative reinforces the brand’s leadership in inclusive travel and strengthens its appeal to families with neurodiverse children.

As part of the program, travel advisors who book stays at Beaches resorts during April can offer clients access to the Beaches Buddy service, a personalized support program designed for children on the autism spectrum. The commissionable offer is valid for travel between August 22 and November 2, 2026, providing advisors with a differentiated product tailored to a growing segment of family travelers.

Beaches Buddies are trained companions who provide individualized assistance based on each child’s needs. They can support guests for a few hours or throughout the entire stay, accompanying children during resort activities or offering guidance in sensory-friendly environments. This flexibility allows families to customize the level of support, helping ensure a comfortable and enjoyable vacation experience.

The brand has long positioned itself as a pioneer in accessible and inclusive hospitality. Through its partnership with International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, Beaches became the first resort company to complete comprehensive autism certification across its properties. This certification ensures that staff are trained to understand sensory sensitivities, communication preferences, and the specific needs of guests with autism and other developmental conditions.

In addition to Beaches Buddies, each resort features dedicated Special Services Teams, also accredited by IBCCES. These teams assist families during the planning phase and throughout their stay, offering tailored recommendations, sensory guidance, and logistical support. Services include identifying low-sensory areas, arranging specialized cleaning products, and advising on the most suitable airport transportation options.

The resorts also provide detailed sensory guides, helping families and travel advisors evaluate activities based on noise levels, crowd density, and other environmental factors. These tools are designed to minimize stress and enhance predictability for guests who benefit from structured planning.

Beaches further enhances its inclusive programming through its partnership with Sesame Street, featuring Julia, a character with autism, in interactive experiences such as the Amazing Art with Julia activity. These offerings promote awareness, representation, and engagement for children and families.

Looking ahead, Beaches will host Autism Inclusion Week from October 19 to 23, 2026, at its Turks & Caicos resort, continuing its commitment to creating welcoming, supportive environments for all travelers.
