FAA IASA Program Ensures Global Aviation Safety Standards
The Federal Aviation Administration oversees the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Program, a key initiative designed to ensure that international airlines meet global safety standards when operating flights to and from the United States.
The IASA program focuses on evaluating a country’s aviation oversight system rather than individual airlines. When a foreign carrier flies into the U.S. or enters into a codeshare agreement with a U.S. airline, its home country must comply with safety standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organization under the framework of the Chicago Convention.
