A New Era in Las Vegas?
Some say that the city of Las Vegas is changing.
Some say that ‘America’s Playground’ has already changed.
Either way, a new era is underway in Sin City.
If you’re traveling to Las Vegas, and you want to see a show with colorful showgirls, think again. That aspect of Las Vegas is dying, or is slowly dying.
The era of the House show, in which hotels sponsor revues that are both lengthy and colorful, is over. Hotels no longer want to produce their own shows.
Instead, they have slowly been transitioning to concerts or extended stays by big name artists.
The residences started in the early 2000s with Celine Dion and, most recently, included superstar Adele. Other stars have included Katy Perry, Garth Brooks and Lady Gaga, among others. Las Vegas has even imported Broadway shows such as Hamilton.
It’s much more financially advantageous to the hotel.
Still, The Link Hotel will give it a shot in 2024 with a show featuring the music of the 1970s and centered around the infamous disco demolition promotion by the Chicago White Sox baseball team.
It will be conceived and produced by the noted company Spiegelworld. But they will add a restaurant and bars, and it will be available on dates when the show is dark.
It’s the evolution of the production show, just as Las Vegas has evolved in the last decade.
