A nut cake survived an air raid from 1942

A recently excavated cake filled with hazelnut and almond appears well-preserved nearly 80 years after the German house it was in was hit by an air raid. Of course, it was covered it lots of soot, but it only shrunk a little bit. The so-called “mummy cake” could end up being an interesting case study in historic preservation.
