Airlines are “still struggling” and face a lengthy recovery, Airlines for America President and CEO Nicholas Calio explained before a congressional committee on March 2. Calio outlined how aviation is uniquely essential to the economy and the distribution of medical supplies and vaccines while urging for additional federal relief to protect tens of thousands of aviation jobs. “A strong and stable aviation industry is a key building block for a global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Calio said. “These aviation workforce funds are truly an investment in our economy.
