A4A CEO discusses air travel demand, challenges

Airlines continue to adjust schedules, hire across the industry and increase collaboration with the government while prioritizing safe and efficient air travel. Airlines “are taking various steps to make the travel experience as smooth as possible,” said Nicholas Calio, president and CEO of Airlines for America. Calio explained that the industry is navigating a range of challenges including “staffing shortages both with us and with the air traffic controllers.” Airlines are offering significant incentives to recruit new employees but Calio noted, “like every industry, like the government, we’re finding it difficult to get people to come back to work at the levels we need.”
