A4A CEO: US airlines recovery will take “a very long time”

While the increase in vaccinations and uptick in passenger throughput are encouraging signs, “we see [recovery] as taking a very long time. We think the recovery this time will be slower than it was after 9/11 and slower than it was after the financial crisis,” Airlines for America President and CEO Nicholas Calio said on Yahoo Finance. Calio noted that despite the rise in demand for leisure destinations, “we’re still down over 40%” compared to 2019 levels.
