About-face by preservation board imperils hotel project

A building across from Seattle’s Pike Place Market entrance that developers hoped to raze to make way for a 14-story hotel has been declared a historic site, casting the project on doubt. Stellar Holdings, owner of the 134-year-old structure, criticized the Landmarks Preservation Board’s decision, noting that it reversed two earlier rulings.
