Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) has significantly expanded its presence in the aviation sector by acquiring full ownership of Etihad Airways Engineering (EYE) and the Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC), along with a 50% stake in Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL). This move establishes a robust UAE-based aviation conglomerate specializing in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, as well as logistics, supply chain management, and advanced engineering.

These acquisitions were finalized following approval from relevant regulatory authorities and involved a transaction with a wholly-owned subsidiary of ADQ, an investment and holding company based in Abu Dhabi. The deal was structured through the issuance of a mandatory convertible instrument valued at approximately AED 4 billion (USD 1 billion), which will be converted into ordinary shares in ADA.

ADA, known for operating a diverse fleet of 62 aircraft used for various purposes including VVIP transport, search-and-rescue, and firefighting, will integrate the comprehensive capabilities of the acquired entities:

  • Etihad Airways Engineering (EYE): Known for providing MRO services to multiple airlines, including Etihad Airways.
  • Advanced Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre (AMMROC): Offers extensive MRO services including engineering solutions, technical training, and supply chain management for over 35 different aircraft types.
  • Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL): As one of the largest MRO providers in the Middle East and North Africa, GAL services more than 45 aircraft types.

With these strategic acquisitions, ADA has created a local aviation group that now employs over 9,500 individuals and offers a comprehensive range of aviation services. Positioned to capitalize on the growing demand in the Middle East, North Africa, and potentially global markets, ADA aims to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading global aviation hub.
