The Centers for Disease Control announced that the mask mandate for air travel and public transportation will be extended for two weeks through May 3 to give health officials time “to assess the potential impact” of a recent rise in COVID-19 cases and a new variant. “It makes no sense to require masks on a plane when masks are not recommended in places like restaurants, bars or crowded sports facilities,” said A4A CEO and President Nick Calio in a letter sent Wednesday to health officials.
