Air Canada is investing in its airport lounge network to offer more comfort, convenience and exclusivity to its customers. The airline is adding more seating, new menu items and digital access gates to its Maple Leaf Lounges and Signature Suites across Canada and abroad.

The airline is also adopting new policies to ensure sufficient lounge space and maintain the high-quality service that its customers expect.

“Our goal with these changes is to create the best possible experience for you and all our lounge guests, ensuring we maintain the exclusive atmosphere and comfortable respite these lounges were designed to offer,” the airline said in a statement.

Some of the changes include:

  • Increasing the seating capacity in some of the busiest lounges, such as Toronto Pearson International Airport and Vancouver International Airport, by adding more chairs, sofas and tables.
  • Introducing new menu items that reflect local and seasonal ingredients, such as smoked salmon bagels in Montreal, butter chicken in Toronto and sushi in Vancouver.
  • Installing digital access gates that allow customers to scan their boarding passes and enter the lounges faster and easier.
  • Limiting access to Maple Leaf Lounges to customers who are traveling on Air Canada or Star Alliance flights on the same day of travel, or who have a valid Air Canada Maple Leaf Club membership or Star Alliance Gold card.
  • Limiting access to Signature Suites to customers who are traveling on Air Canada Signature Class on international flights or transcontinental flights within Canada on the same day of travel.
  • Requiring customers who are traveling on Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express flights to present their boarding passes at the lounge reception, as these flights do not have digital access gates.

Air Canada said that these changes will help improve the lounge experience for its customers and align with industry standards.

The airline operates 23 Maple Leaf Lounges and four Signature Suites at major airports in Canada and around the world. The lounges offer complimentary food and beverages, Wi-Fi, entertainment, business facilities and personal services.

Air Canada is the largest airline in Canada and a founding member of Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline network. The airline flies to more than 200 destinations on six continents.
