Air Canada exec optimistic on government aid
Calin Rovinescu, who recently retired as Air Canada’s CEO, expects the Canadian government to come through with aid for the country’s airlines, saying he is “more optimistic on this front for the first time,” and that stiff quarantine rules will be relaxed by the end of April. Meanwhile, the airline reported that cargo revenue was a small bright spot in 2020, when it lost almost $3 billion, and Air Canada plans to convert some retired Boeing 767s into freighters.
