Boeing and Air Canada announced today the carrier is selecting the 787 Dreamliner to further modernize and grow its fleet with an order for 18 787-10 widebody jets.

Air Canada has revolutionized travel convenience with its new air-to-rail booking options, in collaboration with Europe’s major passenger rail systems. This innovative service, announced on December 5, 2023, allows Air Canada customers to seamlessly connect at European airports with TGV-SNCF Voyageurs in France, Deutsche Bahn in Germany, Swiss Federal Railways in Switzerland, and ÖBB in Austria. These partnerships enable travelers to easily book onward rail trips to various destinations across these four countries, integrating air and rail travel into one cohesive itinerary.

In France, customers can use a single ticket for a connection at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris to reach up to 22 high-speed rail destinations with SNCF Voyageurs, including Nantes, Bordeaux, Marseille, and Strasbourg. For Germany, Air Canada builds upon its existing intermodal connections with Lufthansa Express Rail, providing access to over 5,600 railway stations across the country via Deutsche Bahn from Frankfurt and Munich airports. In Switzerland, travelers flying to Zurich or Geneva can connect with Swiss Federal Railways to visit up to 11 destinations, including Basel and Lucerne. Austrian destinations are also easily accessible from Vienna airport, with up to nine stations reachable via ÖBB services.

This service expansion by Air Canada marks a significant step towards sustainable travel in Europe. It provides convenience, flexibility, and a commitment to eco-friendly travel options, enriching the overall travel experience and promoting environmental sustainability.
