An Airbus A320-232 operated by Viva Aerobus was forced to make an emergency landing in Mexico after experiencing an engine failure. A video captured by a passenger showed flames trailing from the wing following a loud bang.

The domestic flight, VB3235, departed from Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) for Guadalajara Airport (GDL) on April 19, 2023, shortly after 4 pm local time. The crew became aware of the engine failure only a few minutes after take-off and promptly initiated an emergency landing.

The aircraft safely returned to PVR after 20 minutes, where the passengers were disembarked and the plane was taken for further investigation and maintenance. Viva Aerobus stated that the aircraft was under control at all times, and the welfare of all those on board was preserved.
