Airbus Innovates with Mixed Reality Tool for Aircraft Cabin Definition

Airbus is making strides in the aviation industry by developing a groundbreaking mixed reality tool for customizing aircraft interiors. This innovative technology, set to be an industry-first, will facilitate real-time, immersive virtual interactions between Airbus and its customers during the cabin definition process.

Using holograms in a 3D environment, users will have the ability to visualize various cabin equipment options and experiment with different interior configurations, materials, and colors. The collaborative nature of the tool ensures that all stakeholders involved in an Airbus cabin project can easily communicate and collaborate, regardless of their geographical location.

Dubbed “Airbus immersive remote collaboration,” the system is slated to be implemented on the A320 family of aircraft by 2025. Airbus has plans to expand the application of mixed-reality technology to other commercial aircraft and helicopter programs in the future.
