Airbus Reports Delivery of 323 Aircraft in First Half of 2024
Airbus has confirmed that it delivered 323 airplanes in the first half of 2024, marking a 2% increase from the 316 deliveries recorded during the same period last year.
In its monthly bulletin released on Monday, the world’s largest planemaker also announced that it secured 327 gross orders in the first six months of the year, resulting in a net total of 310 orders after accounting for cancellations.
Reuters had previously reported that Airbus delivered approximately 67 airplanes in June alone, contributing to the total deliveries for the first half of the year reaching 323 aircraft.
As of June 30, 2024, the Airbus backlog stands at 8,585 aircraft. Over the last twelve months, the backlog has grown from 7,139 to 8,579 aircraft, representing a 20% increase. With the Farnborough International Airshow on the horizon, it’s likely to see further developments in July 2024.
Industry sources have indicated that Airbus faced challenges in its supply chain, causing production levels to fall below internal forecasts for at least two months. Consequently, earlier this month, Airbus adjusted its delivery target and postponed plans for increasing underlying production.
The fluctuations in output reflect broader industry challenges impacting global supply chains, as manufacturers navigate logistical hurdles and demand fluctuations amid ongoing economic uncertainties.
Airbus remains a pivotal player in the aviation sector, adapting its strategies to address current challenges while continuing to fulfill its commitments to customers worldwide.
